This morning Gramma made the corn bread in four easy steps:
1. Mix some flour, salt, and red kidney beans.
2. Add boiling hot water.
3. Form the dough into a cake.
4. Boil for an hour.
It is so good! It has the consistency of tamales and the taste of grits. Apparently non-Oneida people (ok, specifically white people) don't really care for it because it's bland (although even Justin's family slathers it with butter and salt; then again, they do that to everything!). I think it tastes great plain or with a little butter. So much time and work to make corn bread from scratch, but definitely worth it!
